Ever wondered who makes the fun run on site happen? Or the football tournament? Or even organises the basketball games? That would be the sports team (under the guidance of their team leader of course!).
Over five days there are many different sporting activities that our delegates can get involved in all over site – from indoor basketball to inter-village ‘It’s a Knockout’ and our sports team is there to make sure that these things happen – come rain or shine! As a sports team member you will be doing all sorts of things from registering to delegates for tournaments to supervising the use of the sports equipment in the indoor venue. It will also be an opportunity to get to know the other teams in the indoor sports venue to create an incredible place for the delegates to hang out!
You will have to supply your own accommodation but in return for your hard work you will get a free place at the event and all your meals (beginning the evening day 1 to the evening of day 5) – what more could you want!
The minimum age is 18
You will work on a shift pattern covering the opening hours of the Sports venue, 1pm-6pm and 9.30pm-11.30pm (there will also be minimal set up and pack down) and any tournaments or activities around site. You will spend your time manning the sports desk, chatting to delegates, giving gentle coaching and encouragement, making sure health and safety procedures are kept to and anything else to make sure that everything runs smoothly.
Day 1 – midnight Day 5! There’s a meeting on Day 1 for all teams in the early afternoon followed by an individual team meeting where you’ll meet your lovely team leaders and pick up your wristband! The times for these meetings will be confirmed closer to the summer but as long as you are there early afternoon you will be fine.
Yes you need to be energetic and although you don’t need to be an expert you do need to enjoy different sports! And if you have experience refereeing let us know!
