village hosts
Soul Survivor sprawls over a vast area in Stafford and Shepton Mallet with our delegates camped in all little clusters all over this space. To help make sure everything runs smoothly in these little clusters (or villages) we employ the help of the Village Host!
This dedicated individual appears the night before the event begins and using the information Soul Survivor provides they concoct a little village map and carefully direct the delegates where to go on day 1. They are there to ensure the safe set up of villages, making sure that all the delegates know who they are and provide any support or help that the delegates on their village might require. These Village Hosts ideally work in pairs and bring pastoral support & a little bit of problem solving to their village.
In return for all their hard work they will get a free place at the event.
how old do i have to be?
The minimum age is 21.
what will my days look like?
On day one you will be in charge of making sure that the village is set up safely and report any problems to your Village Host team leaders. For the rest of the week you need to be available to the people on your village for any support or problems they may have. You will be briefed about how to handle situations and the other teams you would need to contact in the event of emergencies. Soul Survivor will also provide you with hot chocolate for the delegates on your village – to help create a community atmosphere! You will be able to go to the main meetings but we advise there is always one village host on your village at all other times in case of any problems that arise.
when will i need to be on site?
Day 0 – midnight Day 5! There’s a meeting on Day 0 at 7pm for your team where you’ll meet your lovely team leaders and pick up your wristbands! You will also receive more information about your assigned villages.
Do I need anything extra to be on this team?
We recommend if you are the group leader for your church that you aren’t village hosts or that you recommend other people from your church to take on the responsibility either of leading your group or village hosting!
You will also be required to complete a Soul Survivor CRB (unless you hold one with Soul survivor that is less than 3 years old at the time of the event). A pack will be sent to you when you apply.
do you have children?
As a Village Host you can bring up to 3 of your children (under 12) to the event with you free of charge! To book them on, first complete your team application and then email us with your booking reference number, name and then the names and dates of birth of your children. We'll take it from there and add them to your booking for you!

ok, you’re interested, but how do you apply?
Please apply for your place on team online (we're no longer accepting team applications by post or email in 2012).
You can apply online using our booking system. If you haven't done so already you will need to register with our online system, then login. Book a place on the event of your choice and choose the option to book as a team member. It’s completely free to volunteer with us so won’t have to give any payment details.
